Pastor Antholino Flores: Belize Director of Theological School

The Baptist Bible School of Belize

The Baptist Bible School of Belize began in January of 2006.  Its purpose is to provide a high quality theological education for pastors, pastors in training, and other leaders in the churches cooperating with the Baptist Association of Belize.  The approach of the Baptist Bible School of Belize is

  • theologically sound
  • Baptist in approach
  • in English as a common language
  • offered by a recognized, accredited seminary, and
  • well-balanced in subject offering

The school offers twenty-one courses over a two and a half year cycle.  Students who complete the course of study are awarded a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry by the External Studies Program of Cape Town Baptist Seminary in South Africa. The seminary is part of the Baptist Union of South Africa and is accredited by the Department of Education of South Africa.

The students, who are members of churches cooperating with the Baptist Association of Belize, receive scholarships that cover the cost of their tuition, their books, and meals while they are at the Baptist Training Center.  The students pay for rooms and transportation to the weeklong training sessions. Pastors and leaders from other Christian churches may also participate, but must pay the BAB for tuition, materials, and food in addition to their room and transportation.

Courses are offered at the Baptist Training Center in Camalote in intensive one-week sessions in January, May, and August.  Information about dates is available from Pastor Antolino Flores, the Belize Director, at Antolino225@hotmail.com (cellular phone: 660 -0707). Students may begin their studies at any session.

The students are able to continue to live at home, work for their support, and serve a church while studying.

Teachers from the United States who have both master’s and doctor’s degrees in theology and years of experience make up the faculty.  During the week of instruction the students have three courses introduced in five sessions of two hours each. This gives faculty members the opportunity to show the students how the process works, introduce each course, and provide additional instruction, discussion, and assignments to supplement the texts.

Students finish reading the texts and do written assignments at home.

Support for the school comes from churches and individuals who give through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina

On October 1, 2010,

seven more students graduated from the Baptist Bible School of Belize. Shown in the picture are, from left to right, Sister Ana Hulse, a children's Sunday school teacher at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church at Benque; Sister Dawn Burgess, a member of Queen Street Baptist Church, Belize City; Pastor Luis Pacheco, Pastor of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church at Benque; Pastor Franklin Valerio who assists in preaching at the Baptist Church in Silk Grass; Pastor Catarino Pop, Senior, Pastor of Punta Gorda Baptist Church; and Mr. Keith Pride, a member of the Queen Street Baptist Church, Belize City. Pastor Alfred Ramsey, Pastor of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Independence Village, also graduated, but is not shown in the picture. The 2010 class was the largest to date. In 2009 only one student, Brother Cecil Martinez, graduated. The first graduating class had five students recognized for their accomplishments.

These are the most recent graduates of the college. The graduation was held at the Lake Independence Baptist Church in the City of Belize. It was very festive and well attended. The valedictorian was Miss Dawn Burgess and the salutatorian was Pastor Alfred Ramsey who could not make it because of wedding engagement. We pray success to all the graduates of 2010.
